two simple sentences each has a meaning & can stand with itself.

example: i played well, i scored goals.

key conjunctions: and, but, so, yet, however, notonly.....butalso,
therefore, thus, otherwise, both.....and, either...or, neither....nor,
consquently.


the complex sentence:
two sentences with a relation between them.


clause of result/ contrast:

one sentence is main & the other is subordinate cant stand alone.

example: he works hard,lest he should fail.

key conjunctions: lest, sothat, in order that, in order, because, as,
since, because of, due to, owing to, despite, in spite of, although,
though.
